Sirote Wins Landmark Kiva Dunes Case

The US Tax Court issued a seminal decision in a controversy with the Internal Revenue Service concerning a taxpayer’s deduction for contributing a conservation easement to a land trust. The outcome was the result of a week-long trial, tried by Sirote Shareholders David M. Wooldridge and Ronald A. Levitt. The easement was donated by Kiva Dunes Conservation, LLC for the purpose of preserving wildlife habitat and open space vistas. The fair market value of the easement contributed was determined by the Tax Court to be almost $28.7 million. Read More

Holiday Food Drive

Sirote & Permutt, in conjunction with Bayer Properties, is hosting a holiday food drive. Collection will occur both at The Summit and in the ground floor of Sirote's offices at 2311 Highland Avenue S. The Sirote location will be open from Nov. 16 - Dec. 11 where client and the public are invited to drop off non-perishables. Collected food will be donated to Greater Birmingham Ministries and Collat Jewish Family Services.
