CEO John Cooper to Speak at ASCPA-Sirote Webinar

The law firm of Sirote & Permutt, PC is please to present a webinar series about tax legal issues for the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants (ASCPA). In collaboration with ASCPA, Sirote shareholder and CEO John Cooper will present “Tax and Business Issues in Connection with Raising Capital” on Friday, July 27. Mr. Cooper will talk about which topics need to be reviewed when advising a client who is interested in pursuing private debt or equity capital.

Mr. Cooper serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the law firm. He advises businesses the planning, structuring and negotiating of mergers and acquisitions; corporate reorganizations; purchases and sales of businesses; and raising capital through issuance of debt and equity securities. He serves as an Adjunct Professor of Advanced Corporate Tax at the University of Alabama School of Law. Best Lawyers in America selected him as Birmingham’s “2012 Best Lawyer of the Year” for Corporate Law.
Mr. Cooper, a Martindale-Hubbell AV rated attorney, is a previous Adjunct Professor for The University of Alabama School of Law and Cumberland School of Law. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Birmingham Business Alliance and John Carroll Catholic High School, as well as the Board of Trustees for Holy Family Cristo Rey High School. Mr. Cooper earned his LLM in Taxation from New York University, his JD degree at The University of Alabama School of Law and his BA degree from The University of Alabama in Huntsville.
