Now in his twenty-fourth year at Sirote, Jim handles civil litigation, with a particular focus on life and disability insurance litigation, representation of banks and mortgage companies, construction litigation and all forms of commercial litigation on behalf of individuals and businesses. Jim has handled matters in Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee, Florida, Kentucky, Ohio and Arkansas. Jim handles appeals in state and federal courts, including the United States Supreme Court. Jim has represented clients in hundreds of arbitrations involving both group and individual insurance policies, as well as commercial business disputes. Jim recently won an arbitration decision in his client's favor in a construction dispute, and won two jury verdicts, first obtaining and collecting a multiple six-figure jury verdict in a commercial construction case, and later by receiving a jury verdict in favor of his client, as well as an attorney’s fee award, in a case where he represented a national mortgage servicer in a case with allegations of wrongful foreclosure.
