The law firm of Sirote & Permutt, PC is pleased to present a webinar series about tax legal issues for the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants (ASCPA). In collaboration with ASCPA, Sirote shareholder Ronald Levitt will present “Operating as an S Corporation Through a State Law Limited Liability Company,” on Friday, August 10. Mr. Levitt will discuss the tax advantages of operating as an S Corporation rather than as a partnership; the non-tax advantages of operating as an LLC; and other tax considerations for the operation of a state law LLC as an S Corporation.

Mr. Levitt’s practice focuses on business and tax planning issues, particularly for closely held and family owned businesses. Specifically, he counsels clients in business planning, succession planning, entity formation, representation of S Corporations, Limited Liability Companies and other flow-through entities, mergers and acquisitions, purchases and sales of businesses, and healthcare law. Additionally, Mr. Levitt handles federal and state controversy matters, estate planning and charitable deduction planning, including planning and defending conservation easements. Mr. Levitt, a Martindale-Hubbell AV rated attorney for over 20 years, and a fellow and on the Board of Regents of the American College of Tax Council, speaks throughout the country and is a frequent author, including being Co-author of the treatise Tax Planning for S Corporations (2d Ed.), published by Lexis/Nexis. Mr. Levitt received his undergraduate and master’s degree from the University of Alabama, his law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law and his LLM in Taxation at the University of Florida School of Law.
