Sirote Mourns the Passing of Judy Todd

It is with deep sorrow that Sirote & Permutt announces the death of Judith F. Todd. We offer sincere condolences to her mother Grace Finkel; her husband J. Theodore Abrams; her son Charles “Sam” Todd; and her stepchildren Margaret Todd Webster, Susan Todd Mullen, John Abrams and Amy Nathan. Judy passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 14, 2010.
An attorney for more than 25 years at Sirote, Judy was one of Alabama's premiere estate planning attorneys, recognized by peers and clients alike as excelling in her field. She advised clients in planning their estates to accomplish their goals for distribution of their assets to their beneficiaries while minimizing estate tax liability.
"It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of longtime friend and colleague Judy Todd,” said John Cooper, managing partner, Sirote & Permutt. “Judy was a beloved attorney who was devoted to her family, clients and community. On behalf of Sirote, we extend our condolences to Judy’s family, and offer our prayers, thoughts and sympathies during this time of loss.”
As a devoted philanthropist, Judy had a lifelong commitment to charitable causes. She gave generously of both her time and resources to local and national organizations. She was especially passionate about helping organizations that benefit women and children, serving on the board of directors and executive committee of the YWCA, and the first board of the Women's Fund of Greater Birmingham. Judy was president of the Women's Network, a member of Leadership Birmingham and was chairman of the professional advisors division of The Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham.
Additionally, Judy was recognized with many prestigious awards for her years of community service, including Birmingham Outstanding Professional Advisor by The Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham, the Life Inspiration Award from the American Cancer Society, and a Woman of Distinction Award from the Girl Scouts.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Judith Todd & Ted Abrams Fund of Temple Emanu-El's Rabbi Grafman Endowment Fund, the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center, the YWCA or a charity of your choice.
