Sirote’s Robin Beardsley Mark Serving As President for Young Lawyers, Honoring Local Charities

BIRMINGHAM, ALA-November 30, 2010 - The Birmingham chapter of Young Lawyers recently capped off a year of giving by making several check presentations to local and area charitable groups including Studio by the Tracks, Mitchell’s Place, The Autism Society of Alabama, YMCA Strong Kids Campaign and Holy Family Cristo Rey Catholic High School. Sirote & Permutt’s Robin Beardsley Mark, President of the Birmingham chapter of Young Lawyers hosted a reception for the organizations benefiting from the work of Young Lawyers. The Birmingham Young Lawyers initiatives were successful in raising over $36,000 for local charities and other groups benefiting area children and adults.
Studio by the Tracks provides art education at no cost to special needs adults and emotionally conflicted children. The donation of $8,000 from the Young Lawyers helped to sponsor the Student’s Room at the 21st annual Art from the Heart benefit which featured hundreds of pieces of artwork created by the Studio by the Tracks students.
The Young Lawyers helped to establish the Race to the Courthouse with proceeds benefiting YMCA Strong Kids Campaign. The Young Lawyers contributed $5,000 this year to the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign and continue to serve as title sponsors of the Race.
Contributions of $4,000 each to Mitchell’s Place and the Autism Society of Alabama are assisting the organizations to the betterment of Alabama families with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
Young Lawyers also presented a check for $15,000 to Holy Family Cristo Rey Catholic High School. The school provides a private college preparatory education to promising students who cannot afford private schools. The funds provided by Young Lawyers will be used for science lab upgrades which are vital to providing a college preparatory science curriculum.
