Sirote's Ransburg-Brown Featured in Birmingham Medical News
Sirote & Permutt shareholder Cynthia Ransburg-Brown’s article, “Failure to Perform Risk Analysis Key Factor in Recent HIPAA Enforcement Actions” was featured in the June 17, 2014, issue of Birmingham Medical News.
The article reviews three health care entities that agreed to pay nearly $7 million in settlements for potential and actual violations of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). It also explains why performing risk analysis is important in reaching substantial compliance.
Ransburg-Brown is a member of the Health Care Group at Sirote & Permutt. She advises clients in the areas of health care law, corporate compliance, administrative law and business law. She is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she teaches a course in Health Care Law in the School of Health Related Professions.
