Sirote Attorneys Inducted As Fellows of The Birmingham Bar Foundation

Sirote & Permutt is pleased to announce that four of its shareholders were selected as Fellows of the Birmingham Bar Foundation. Robert R. Baugh, Karl B. Friedman, Jack E. Held and The Honorable Thomas A. Woodall were inducted into the organization on January 19 at the “2013 Fellows Dinner” that was held at the Vestavia Country Club.

The Birmingham Bar Foundation was established in 1994 to support the philanthropic and educational efforts of the Birmingham Bar Association.

About Robert R. Baugh
Baugh is Co-Chair of the law firm’s Litigation Group and is 2013 President of the Birmingham Bar Association. Baugh represents clients in insurance, business and product liability litigation, as well as intellectual property matters. He is recognized as a Best Lawyer in America and is a 2012 Alabama Super Lawyer for Business Litigation.

About Karl B. Friedman
Friedman is a Founding Partner of Sirote & Permutt. He structures financial, real estate, personal property and other types of funding transactions. He also assists clients with estate planning. The Martindale-Hubbell AV rated attorney previously served as an organizing director of the American National Bank of Birmingham and as a special assistant to the Attorney General of Alabama.

About Jack E. Held
Held’s legal practice focuses on civil litigation. He handles commercial disputes, family law and domestic relations, business and corporate litigation, will contests and mediation. A Martindale-Hubbell AV rated attorney, Held is also recognized as a Best Lawyers in America for Family Law.

About Thomas A. Woodall
Woodall is Chair of the law firm’s Appellate Practice Group. In 2000, Woodall was elected to the Supreme Court of Alabama, serving a 6-year term and winning re-election in 2006. In February 1996, Governor Fob James appointed Justice Woodall as a Circuit Court Judge in Jefferson County. He was elected to that position in 1998, after running unopposed. He received his law degree from the University of Virginia, School of Law and graduated magna cum laude from Millsaps College.
