Sirote's John Cooper & Jim Sturdivant Designated "Lawyers of the Year" for 2013

Cooper serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the law firm. He advises businesses on the planning, structuring and negotiating of mergers and acquisitions; corporate reorganizations; purchases and sales of businesses and raising capital through issuance of debt and equity securities.
Cooper, a Martindale-Hubbell AV rated attorney, is a previous Adjunct Professor for The University of Alabama School of Law and Cumberland School of Law. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Birmingham Business Alliance and John Carroll Catholic High School, as well as the Board of Trustees for Holy Family Cristo Rey High School. Cooper earned his LLM in Taxation from New York University, his JD degree at The University of Alabama School of Law and his BA degree from The University of Alabama in Huntsville.
ABOUT JAMES R. STURDIVANT
Sturdivant represents and defends clients in criminal and white collar matters. A former federal prosecutor, he represents individual and corporate clients facing federal grand jury and law enforcement investigations, as well as securities fraud allegations. He assists businesses, professional, governmental and nonprofit organizations on strategies to avoid becoming the target of an investigation.
Sturdivant is a Martindale-Hubbell AV rated attorney and previously served on the Executive Committee for the Birmingham Bar Association. He earned in JD degree from The University of Alabama School of Law and his BA degree from Auburn University where he was recognized as a distinguished Military Graduate.
