Robert Baugh (Litigation) – Baugh is a Shareholder and co-chair of the firm’s Litigation Group. In 2013, he was President of the Birmingham Bar Association. Steven Brickman (Real Estate) – Brickman is a Shareholder who represents clients in all phases of commercial real estate development, including land acquisition, financing, leasing and planning. John Cooper (Corporate/Commercial Tax) – Cooper serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the firm. He advises businesses on topics, including the planning, structuring and negotiating of mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, purchases and sales of businesses and raising capital through issuance of debt and equity securities. Jerry Held (Real Estate) – Held chairs the law firm’s Mortgage Banking Practice Group and represents national mortgage lenders, servicers and government agencies in mortgage banking law, real estate litigation, default servicing and title insurance law. Maurice L. Shevin (Banking and Finance) – Shevin is a Shareholder who represents trade associations, financial institutions and business clients, advising them with respect to business and industry concerns. He advises numerous local, regional and national real estate, finance and consumer credit clients with respect to federal and state consumer credit protection laws, rules and regulations. His practice also includes assisting clients in legislative analysis and drafting, financing, and the purchase and sale of businesses and business assets. Adam J. Sigman (Real Estate) – Sigman serves as a Shareholder at Sirote & Permutt and focuses his practice on real estate and project finance, representing real estate developers and investors across a broad spectrum of asset categories, including retail, office, industrial/warehouse, multi-family, healthcare and life sciences, entertainment, sports and hotel, as well as agricultural, ranch, farm and hunting properties. He also counsels real estate clients in their general corporate, business planning and tax planning matters. Bradley J. Sklar (Corporate/Commercial Tax) – Sklar serves on the law firm’s Board of Directors and is a past co-chair of the Corporate & Tax Practice Group. Sklar represents real estate developers in structuring and tax planning issues at federal, state and local levels. He counsels clients in tax and incentive planning and entity formation. He was the principal draftsperson of Alabama’s Limited Liability Company Act when it was passed in 1993 and frequently advises clients on sophisticated transactional structuring ideas.
