Sirote & Permutt Attorney Marcus Maples to Present at Young Lawyers Seminar
Marcus Maples, a shareholder at Sirote & Permutt’s Birmingham office, will present “The Mile-High Climb: Positioning Yourself for Increased Opportunity Early in Your Practice and Staying on Track for Partnership,” at the DRI Young Lawyers Seminar from June 25-27, 2014, at the Westin Downtown in Denver, Colo. He will also present the material to the Alabama State Bar Young Lawyers Section Seminar on May 16-17, 2014, in Destin, Fla.
Maples presentation will assist associates with the following: 1) developing solid quality work product; 2) how to bill hours, collect dollars and to be profitable; 3) upgrading one’s visibility, 4) getting a real mentor (not the one the firm assigns), 5) being available when needed; 6) developing a specialized area of law to sell to potential clients and partners; 7) how to be aggressive and think outside the box; 8) knowing your firm; their expectations and values; 9) setting and exceeding your own personal goals and 10) how to effectively leverage second chair opportunities.
Maples represents clients in general business and commercial litigation matters. He works with life, health, disability and long-term care insurance companies in bad faith and ERISA related issues, and also represents shareholders, officers and directors in shareholder derivative claims. Maples serves on the Executive Committee of the Young Lawyers Section for the Alabama State Bar Association and is an active member of DRI. He serves on the Board of Trustees for Farrah Law Society. Maples earned his J.D. from The University of Alabama School of Law and his B.A. from the University of North Alabama.
