Sirote & Permutt Welcomes New Attorney John C.S. Pierce

Pierce assists clients in all areas trial and appellate practice and counsels businesses and business owners in the areas of construction, employment, transportation, professional liability, products liability, business disputes and insurance matters. Pierce is also a private pilot with the ability to reach remote clients within hours to provide support during times of legal crisis. A former partner at another civil litigation firm in Mobile, Ala., Pierce devoted his practice to general civil trial work and appeals, and he has handled and tried cases throughout Alabama, Mississippi and Florida.
Pierce is a member of DRI (Defense Research Institute) where he currently chairs the Trial Tactics committee. Serving in that role, he appeared before the Federal Rules Advisory Committee in Washington, D.C. this past November, to advocate for meaningful civil rules reforms to lower the cost and burden faced by businesses in discovery, particularly electronic discovery. He is a former chair of the DRI’s Product Liability Committee Scaffolding, Cranes and Aerial Devices (SCAD) Specialized Litigation Group. Additionally, Pierce is a member of the, the International Association of Defense Counsel, the Product Liability Advisory Council and the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association. Pierce is a frequent speaker, writer and moderator. He has delivered many presentations to DRI and has published articles in DRI’s For the Defense. He also co-edited the State-by-State Price-Spread Damages Compendium for DRI’s Trial Tactics Committee.

Pierce is also actively involved in a number of nonprofit organizations, and his positive presence in the communities that he serves is viewed highly by Sirote & Permutt. He serves as the vice president and pro bono legal counsel for the Penelope House Domestic Violence Shelter and has served on its board for 15 years. He is also an active board member for Camp Rap-A-Hope, an organization that provides programming and a week-long summer camp to children between the ages of seven and 17 who have been or are current cancer patients.
