Marcus Maples Assumes DRI Leadership Position
Sirote & Permutt attorney Marcus M. Maples will serve as a member of the Life, Health and Disability Steering Committee for the Defense Research Institute (DRI).
The Life, Health and Disability Committee focuses on issues affecting the life, health and disability insurance as well as the managed care industries. The Committee addresses a broad spectrum of issues, including claims, underwriting, regulatory and compliance matters affecting individually issued and ERISA governed insurance products. The Committee's members consist of industry in-house attorneys and claims professionals as well as the outside counsel who represent their interests.
Maples will be speaking at DRI’s Life, Health, Disability & ERISA Claims Seminar, which will be held in Boston from April 27-29, 2011. His topic is related to set-offs, subrogation and the collateral source rule in regards to ERISA plans.
At Sirote, Maples’ practice consists of general business and commercial litigation matters. Specifically, he represents life, health, disability and long-term care insurance companies in bad faith and ERISA related issues, in addition to representing a variety of lenders in mortgage banking related matters. He earned his JD from the University of Alabama School of Law and his BA from the University of North Alabama.
