Sirote’s Craig Stephens Chosen by AFPAL as The Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham Outstanding Professional Advisor of 2015 for Supporting Philanthropy
Sirote & Permutt Shareholder Attorney, Craig Stephens, is being recognized by the Alabama chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals as the “The Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham Outstanding Professional Advisor” of 2015. He will be awarded at The AFPAL’s 34th annual National Philanthropy Day® along with other standout contributors to Alabama’s philanthropic community on November 12.
“I’m humbled to be chosen for this award because I know the quality of the nonprofits and professionals who guide them in this community,” said Stephens. “I hope we all continue using our gifts, talents and expertise, to give back to others.”
Recipients of the “The Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham Outstanding Professional Advisor” award must have demonstrated support for philanthropy in their work “by facilitating significant gifts to local charities, as well as personally by giving time, talent, charitable contributions, and leadership among fellow professionals,” as stated in the nomination form for the award. The lone recipient is chosen from among the following fields: law, accounting, insurance, financial planning, banking, or investment services.
“The better we become at our respective practices, the better we also try to become at serving the community with our expertise,” said W. Todd Carlisle, President of Sirote. “Craig has been an exemplar of this idea.”
Stephens is past president and current board member with the Alabama Planned Giving Council. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Girlspring, Inc., and has served on the Board of Directors of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama.
National Philanthropy Day® will be held Thursday, November 12, 2015, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at The Harbert Center.
