Nine Sirote Lawyers Named Shareholder
Sirote & Permutt, PC is pleased to announce the addition of nine new shareholders to the firm. The new shareholders, located in the firm’s Birmingham and Pensacola offices, represent a broad range of practice areas including Corporate & Tax; Litigation; Business & Financial Services; Estate Planning; Mortgage Services; and Bankruptcy.

The new shareholders are:
Jaime Cowley Erdberg, a member of the Litigation Group, covers a broad range of general litigation matters in both state and federal courts in Alabama and the Southeast. She represents insurance companies in fraud and bad faith lawsuits, and Erdberg also represents clients in general business disputes, securities, products liability and appellate litigation.
Samuel Friedman, a member of the Business & Financial Services Group, provides general business and creditors’ rights services to businesses of all different sizes. Specifically, he advises consumer finance companies regarding compliance with federal and state laws, particularly federal privacy and identity theft laws. Friedman also advises clients in commercial lending and commercial real estate transactions.
R. Michael Murphy, a member of the Corporate & Tax Group, focuses primarily on mergers, acquisitions and general corporate law. He has experience in advising businesses in connection with a broad range of corporate matters, including corporate structure, formation and reorganization, contract negotiation, employee incentives programs, licensing, and non-compete and other employment issues. Murphy also works with financial services firms, including several multi-state insurance distribution companies.
Diane Murray, a member of the Bankruptcy Group, represents national, regional and local mortgage lenders and servicers, as well as other types of secured creditors in consumer bankruptcy cases. Murray advises clients on the most cost-effective and expeditious strategies available to resolve issues before and after a debtor files for bankruptcy as well as the potential impact of bankruptcy law on day to day business transactions.
Cheryl Howell Oswalt, a member of the Litigation Group, represents clients in general litigation matters, including business disputes and minority shareholder issues. She is also experienced in representing members of the mortgage banking industry and assists clients with various mortgage and title issues. Oswalt defends mortgagees and mortgage servicers from a variety of claims, including wrongful foreclosure, predatory lending and TILA, FDCPA and RESPA violations.
Rebecca Redmond, a member of the Mortgage Banking Practice Group, focuses on the mortgage servicing industry. She represents national mortgage lenders, servicers and investors in the areas of mortgage banking law, foreclosure law and title insurance law.
Andrew Saag, a member of Mortgage Banking Practice Group, represents the mortgage servicing industry. He represents national mortgage lenders, servicers and investors in the areas of mortgage banking law, foreclosure law and title insurance law.
Tanya Shunnara is a member of the Estates, Wills & Trusts Group, where she advises clients in planning their estates to accomplish personal goals and minimize estate taxes. Shunnara’s practice focuses on family wealth transfer planning, business succession planning, transfer tax minimization and assisting families in carrying out their testamentary goals.
